# Checklist: Take Inventory of Your Data

Companies that are contemplating selling their data first need to taken inventory of what data they have.  We've created a simple checklist to help you prepare for data monetization.  It includes:

- Identifying data sets that might have value
- Understanding the systems where the data is stored
- Determining if the data can be moved to external systems
- Thinking about regulatory issues that might arise
